Lot 443 Carmel Advertisement, Framed CA - Carmel,Monterey County - c1902 - General Americana
The charming little town of Carmel began to form as a resort community on the late 19th Century. Visitors were drawn to the area’s peaceful ocean views and mild climate; therefore plans began for development of the area. This lot is an early piece of the town’s history, which today is still thriving as a resort community. The lot measures 20” x 13” and 27” x 20” framed. Advertisement has been laid out and the frame allows for both sides to be seen. On one side there is a full map of all the subdivisions by blocks and lots. “An ideal resort for summer homes and camping parties” reads one line. Building sites start at 40 x 100 feet. The other side shows a map with routes to Carmel, a description of the town and other facts. There is very little wear, and is only 1 of 2 known [Ref: http://www.carmelcalifornia.com]. The other known copy of this advertisement is in the Delmonte Hotel in Carmel. - Jacobitz Collection
